posted 01/10/2010 New Canaan Baseball/Softball, Inc. is looking for volunteers to assist in the various responsibilities of the registrar and webmaster. Do you have 1-2 hours per week that you could be helping us, from your own home, to keep the website and member records accurate and up to date? Are you very comfortable with Word, Excel, and Outlook? Then take a look at the job descriptions below and see if any appeal to you!
We've carefully looked at all of the responsibilies of the webmaster and registar and realize that concentrating some of the chores to individuals would increase effficiency and make these two board positions more manageable.
Registrar Responsibilities needing assistance:
1.) Coach Certification: For the Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken League, all coaches must take and pass a certification training course on coaching. At the beginning of each of the 3 seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall), this volunteer would need to contact each coach and assistant coach who has not provided certification and help them get their certification, then record them as in compliance, before they begin coaching. Each coach needs to only be certified once for lifetime coaching.
2.) Player Evaluations: At the end of the Spring Season each year, the coaches of each team must fill out a full evaluation form that includes a numbered rating for Hit, Field, Throw and Pitch (if applicable), as well as provide a short explanation of each player's strengths and weaknesses, etc. This volunteer would need to contact each coach, providing them with the blank form listing their team, then gather it back and provide the completed set of evaluations to the registrar.
Webmaster Responsibilities needing assistance:
1.) Schedules: During the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons, we would need 1 volunteer for each division, baseball and softball, to keep the game schedule accurate. All games would be entered prior to the season, division by division, through an excel upload of the file. This volunteer would make changes to the system as games are cancelled, delayed or forfeited, day by day. This job would require about 15 minutes worth of work each day on their home computer.
2.) Photo Album Maintenance: We need one person to help the parent managers to upload photos to their team website, as well as maintain the slideshow on our Home Page so that the most recent tournaments are highlighted. We need this individual to keep the seperate Photo Albums within our system organized, labelled and dated properly.
A 5th volunteer position, involving the secure gathering of birth certificates for all players is being handled well and has been immensely helpful to the board.
